However, the use of battery energy storage systems (BESS) inside buildings may bring significant potential risks, particularly in the case of fire.
The key challenges in designing the battery energy storage system container included: Weight Reduction: The container design had to be lightweight yet strong enough to withstand operational stresses like shocks and seismic forces, ensuring the batteries were protected during transport and deployment.
The existing thermal runaway and barrel effect of energy storage container with multiple battery packs have become a hot topic of research. This paper innovatively proposes an optimized system for the development of a healthy air ventilation by changing the working direction of the battery container fan to solve the above problems.
However, the use of battery energy storage systems (BESS) inside buildings may bring significant potential risks, particularly in the case of fire. LIB fires develop differently than fires caused by other sources as they can undergo rapid thermal runaway releasing explosive and toxic gases and fumes.
To ensure optimal performance and safety of battery storage system, effective thermal management was a key consideration in the design. We integrated an efficient HVAC system into the container design by: Incorporating two AC chillers to cool the battery area, regulating the temperature inside the container.
