In recent years, the rapid advancement of the Internet of Vehicles (IoV) has provided a novel solution for forest fire monitoring. IoV, based on Vehicle-to-Everything (V2X) communication technology, enables real-time information exchange between vehicles and the external environment 9.
In addition, with the rapid development of artificial intelligence, computer vision-based forest fire monitoring technology has been widely applied. This forest fire monitoring technology can utilize deep learning algorithms such as Faster RCNN, YOLO, SSD, etc., to detect and identify fire targets in images or videos 20.
Therefore, when a forest fire occurs, it is difficult for sensors to send the fire data to the monitoring and control center in a timely and complete manner, which will lead to greater disasters. In this paper, the Internet of Vehicles (IoV) communication technologies was employed to ensure the connectivity of communication links in the forest.
Unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) 7, while providing flexible monitoring, are constrained by flight endurance and operational costs, making large-scale, continuous monitoring infeasible 8. In recent years, the rapid advancement of the Internet of Vehicles (IoV) has provided a novel solution for forest fire monitoring.
A communication network among vehicles in the forest is constructed in this paper. This network facilitates real-time data exchange across a wide area, allowing multiple vehicles to efficiently share monitoring results and fire-related information.
The Internet of Vehicles (IoV) addresses several of these challenges, positioning it as a promising alternative. Satellite-based fire detection offers extensive coverage but is constrained by temporal resolution, as satellites may take several hours or even days to revisit the same location 26.
