USB Power Delivery (PD) is a protocol that can describe any power supply that supplies between 0W and 100W. A USB-C power supply that supplies more than 15W must do so with USB PD.
One that specifies Power Delivery, or “PD”. PD power supplies usually have either a USB-C socket or a USB-C cord permanently attached. PD seems like a good idea, but with power going so many ways I was initially afraid something might catch fire. Nothing did.
802.3 refers to any PoE-powered piece of equipment as a Powered Device (PD). Examples include wireless access points, VoIP phones, and IP cameras. Many powered devices have an auxiliary power connector for an optional external power supply.
A portable power supply is a device that can store and provide electrical energy for various purposes. It can power small appliances, charge electronic devices, or supply emergency backup power in case of a blackout. Portable power supplies are usually rechargeable and have different capacities and features depending on the intended use.
The No Inductor power supply. This project utilizes PicoPD's previous work to prototype a bench power supply. Beside portable soldering iron, this should be one of the best portable tools for college electrical engineering students. This bench power supply is powered by USB-C PD 3.0/3.1 using their PPS capability.
In particular, PocketPD makes use of the Programmable Power Supply (PPS) functionality to precisely set and control voltage and current. Doing this does require a compatible USB-C charger or power bank, but that’s not too big of an ask these days. Even if an attached charger doesn’t support PPS, PocketPD can still be useful.
