1. Introduction to Photovoltaics and Energy Storage Photovoltaics (PV) refers to the technology that converts sunlight directly into electricity using solar panels. Among these alternatives, the integrated photovoltaic energy storage system, a novel energy solution combining solar energy harnessing and storage capabilities, garners significant attention compared to the traditional separated photovoltaic energy storage system.
Therefore, it is significant to investigate the integration of various electrical energy storage (EES) technologies with photovoltaic (PV) systems for effective power supply to buildings. Some review papers relating to EES technologies have been published focusing on parametric analyses and application studies.
The coupled photovoltaic-energy storage-charging station (PV-ES-CS) is an important approach of promoting the transition from fossil energy consumption to low-carbon energy use. However, the integrated charging station is underdeveloped. One of the key reasons for this is that there lacks the evaluation of its economic and environmental benefits.
This study shows that compared with light storage power stations and energy storage charging stations, PV-ES-CS stations have better economic and environmental values, which can balance economic development and environmental protection.
The integration of photovoltaics and energy storage is the key to a sustainable energy future. With falling costs and rising efficiency, these systems are becoming more accessible, paving the way for a cleaner, greener world. Adopting PV-storage systems today is a step toward energy independence and environmental stewardship.
